AMU Teachers Invited To Supervise Chinese Students

6 AMU scholars have been granted visiting professor status at Chinese universities.  AMU was approached by its partner university Northwest Normal University (NNU) with a proposal to invite scientists  as assistant supervisors at graduate and PhD level thesis seminars back in June 2020.

– So far, cooperation with the Chinese universities has been focused on the implementation of research projects of individual lecturers or research groups, as well as the training of master and doctoral students in the framework of study programs. This time Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou has invited six lecturers from AMU into its Chemistry department.  They who will participate in the training of Chinese PhD students. In the current year, communication will be conducted online, but after the end of the pandemic, the program also provides for lectures and face-to-face classes.

The cooperation between Northwest Normal University and Adam Mickiewicz University will have an institutional, long-term character and will allow for planning joint activities in the area of didactics and scientific research, says Professor Rafał Witkowski, AMU Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.

The areas of interest for Chinese scientific institutions are: chemistry, electronics, physics, mathematics and environmental protection. The assistant promoter (Thesis supervisor) will receive the status of visiting professor at a Chinese university. Six distinguished AMU Chemistry professors:  Tomasz Pędziński, Maciej Trejda, Marcin Frankowski, Marcin Kwit, Piotr Pawluć and Marek Sikorski, have been nominated and awarded a special certificate (see photo gallery).
