Online classes of Polish language have been inaugurated at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. This is a joint initiative of the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, the University of Thessaloniki and the Polish Embassy in Athens. The proposal met with great interest among Greek students, more than 200 students of medicine, economics and physics applied. So far, two groups have been formed.
The launch of the lectures is a result of bilateral cooperation between Adam Mickiewicz University and AUTh under the European University EPICUR. The European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions is a consortium of eight universities, research centers from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Greece and Poland, which was established in 2019. Books for students and teacher packs were purchased by the Polish Embassy in Athens.
During the inauguration ceremonies on February 23 and 24, Prof. Rafał Witkowski, Vice-Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University, and the President of the University Language Center of the Greek University, Prof. Thomai Alexiou, met with the participants of the class groups online.
The participants of the classes were also welcomed by: Polish Ambassador to Greece Mr. Artur Lompart, Rector of AMU Professor Bogumiła Kaniewska and Vice Rector for Academic & Students Affairs, Professor Dimitrios Koveos.
