Preface by the Rector (fragment)
We are very fortunate to have at AMU so many outstanding scholars and scientists who individually and along with their associates and students conduct research and create works leading to the recognition of their scientific achievements. The range of research interests is best reflected in the structure of the University. AMU has 15 faculties, 29 institutes, two interuniversity science centers and a network of interdisciplinary university centers. Excellent parametrization results of AMU faculties, the status of a Leading National Research Center, “Polish Nobel Prizes” and many other individual and collective achievements of our scholars and scientists testify to the high quality of our research.
The publication presents research grants implemented at AMU. Our academics are partners in international studies, including those at the highest level. We are also becoming an important beneficiary of EU funding. It should be emphasized that research at our University is conducted in a variety of areas and disciplines, therefore it is not easy to illustrate its comprehensiveness. Deans of AMU faculties have been asked to select and present a single example from their faculty. I realize that the task of selecting just one project must have been difficult and challenging (one of the deans gave up and presented two projects instead of one).
This, however, shows the plurality of areas in which research is conducted at AMU, which was the purpose of this publication. I hope that this publication reflects the variety of our research, which we consider a source of great pride. As AMU Rector I will do all I can to make sure that we maintain our research diversity and at the same time preserve the unity of our University.
