|Course description||The course presents the history and tradition of Polish short documentary, fiction and animated films. The aim is to present students the greatest achievements of Polish Documentary School, Polish animated film and short fiction, focusing on the unique qualities of short films. These qualities has long been recognized and the history of Polish short films deserves to be discussed in its own rights with works of such directors like Roman Polański, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Zbigniew Rybczyński, Marcel Łoziński or Kazimierz Karabasz. One more focus of the course is to present the image of Poland of present and past times reflected in masterworks of this film form. Film shows are an integral part of the course.|
|Assessment method||Attendance and a research paper (3000 words). Students are expected to read assigned texts and participate in discussions.|
